Build a new trip from Yellowstone to San Francisco Thnks !!

We made a great trip last year starting from San francisco, we visited Yosemitee park, Carmel, Santa Barbara, Las Vegas, Bryce Canyon, Grand canyon, Monument Valley ... San diego and went back to France via Los Angeles.

I am looking for advices because I would like to come back this summer with my familly for visiting this time : Yellowstone, Tahoe Lack and finishing by San Francisco (We love this town, so we would like to go again).

Is someone can help us to design our summer trip considering that Yellowstone, Tahoe lack are the main objectives of this trip. So what is interesting to discover in this area ?. We would like to stay 2 weeks, hope I am clear enough ...

Many thanks in advance.

Philippe

First you need to understand that Yellowstone is not close to Lake Tahoe or San Francisco. For example from Las Vegas it is at least 16 hours to West Yellowstone, Montana and the western entrance to Yellowstone National Park. You would need a minimum of 4 days to see Yellowstone. You can stay in the park or outside the park. If staying inside the park, make reservations now-they go fast. You could end up by going through the Grand Tetons and visit Jackson Hole. From Jackson Hole it is 5 hours to Salt Lake City and then a two day drive back to San Francisco. You might want to fly into Salt Lake City and fly out of San Francisco. If you want more specifics on what to do in Yellowstone just let the forum know.

CeCe is right. It%26#39;s a long drive and 14 days are hardly enough to see it all. Have you considered to see places like Zion, Bryce, Capitol Reef, Arches and Canyonlands? You%26#39;ll forget all about Lake Tahoe I can assure you (not offend to Lake Tahoe though). You could fly Salt Lake City or Las Vegas but even for this trip 14 days is rather short.

Please let us know and we%26#39;ll give you an itinerary even if you start from SF (Maybe consider to fly SF and leave from SLC)

Many thanks for your answers. I must admit that it is rather difficult to satisfy everybody in my familly. I will be ok for a trip around Yellowstones and visiting parks I did not visited in 2007, but somme of us, want to visit towns too and go to the sea side ... So we have to think again. Perhaps we have to plan a 3 weeks trip like in 2007. But between Salt lake and San francisco, I don%26#39;t know what are the best places to visit ?

From Salt Lake City you could travel thru Reno, Nevada and Sacremento, California on your way to San Francisco. South of San Francisco is Carmel and Big Sur if the beach is important to some of your family. We did that trip several years ago.
