Any Guest ranch suggestions?

My hubby and I will be in the Yellowstone area in July. We have reservations at the Old Faithful Inn for two nights but would also like to stay at a guest ranch for a night or two? Looking for something authenic, maybe a meal by campfire, where we might get a glimpse of wildlife and possibly hear coyotes during the night? Does such a place exist? Any help/suggestions appreciated.

Any Guest ranch suggestions?

I have good friends that run the CM Ranch outside Dubois -- which is absolutely beautiful. Their website is cmranch.com. I recommend them. I%26#39;ve also heard there are some good dude ranches outside Cody, but I don%26#39;t have personal experience -- I%26#39;m sure others will pipe up.

Have to tell you that your coyote howl hope made me laugh. Natives tend to put them in the ';pest'; category. Last time I was in Yellowstone, walking the path/hike up the hillside north of Old Faithful, late afternoon, come upon a coyote only 4 yards way (close to 4 meters). My reaction is to stamp my foot %26amp; holler ';shoo!';

Funny story, had a blind friend who lived out on the rolling hills of Wyoming. When there were coyotes out at dusk, a risk to his seeing eye dog and a general nusance, he would load his shotgun by feel, his wife would help him ';sight'; the gun, and he%26#39;d shoot. She now has a coyote pelt coat. Don%26#39;t worry -- they are NOT endangered. Lots and lots of them around.

Thanks, I went to the web site you referenced. Sounds wonderful but they require a weeks stay and we were hoping for a place where we could stay 1 or 2 nights. Thank you for your prompt response. I am so looking forward to seeing Wyoming in all its splendor. Any suggestions on things not to be missed. Again, thanks.

There are about 13 lodges between the east gate to Yellowstone and Cody. Some operate like hotels (nightly stays). I suggest Bill Cody Ranch - www.billcodyranch.com, Elephant Head Lodge -www.elephantheadlodge.com, or crossed sabres - www.crossedsabres.com. They offer a variety of activities, cookouts, campfires, horse rides, etc.

The www.yellowstonecounty.org website has all the information,

We stayed at the Elephant Head Lodge in Wapiti for three nites - wonderful - good horses and fine food. Cute cabins, nice people. Look at the Wapiti Lodging assn. or something like that (use google) and you will find options. We loved the area and Cody.
