Here is what I read on some site:
';West Yellowstone is a small tourist town, that is operating only during high season. Almost half of the lodging is operated under Best Western management.';
Could you please confirm when ';high season'; ends?
Is the town in West Yellowstone nearly shut down in September?
Kangarooo!
West Yellowstone in September
It was still open and quite busy during our September 2005 visit.
West Yellowstone in September
We visited Yellowstone in 1997, making our base in W Yellowstone in Sept. of that year. The town was alive and well, and all hotels were open. You will find fewer people, but services will be available. There are several restaurants there, along with some tourist attractions (i.e. the grizzly center). There was a Yellowstone museum there as well. You will also find cheaper rates at some hotels that drop their rates after Labor Day.
You will really enjoy the area in September. It%26#39;s a great timem to visit!
';High'; season is summer season. Generally, it goes from mid-June until after Labor Day weekend which matches the schedule for when children are out of school in the U.S. If I had my preference, I would not come to Yellowstone during the high season, but the ';shoulder'; seasons. That is the time of year (spring %26amp; early summer, and fall) when there are less visitors and actually more to see.
We live in West Yellowstone so I can attest that it is still open and operating through all of September. In fact, last year, many more people are choosing to come to Yellowstone in the cooler, less crowded Fall season. September is our favorite month. Great fishing. Great weather. The elk are bugling, wildlife is on the move.
In West, the IMAX theater, Grizzly %26amp; Wolf Discovery Center, and Museum are open. You can also try some adventure activities like horseback riding in the mountains, kayaking on Hebgen Lake, fall hikes into the mountains.
Let me know if there are specific things you would like to know!
