Yellowstone with teenagers - tour advice

We are visiting Yellowstone this summer with 5 teenagers and would like to get some advice on guided tours.

We would like to arrange for some group guided tours of the highlights of the park. We would like some guided hikes, etc. (don%26#39;t want to be on a bus all day)

We would like to horseback ride, fly fish, view animals, hike to waterfalls, etc. Any suggestions for what tours/tour companies?

Thank you!

We rented a car and toured ourselves last year and are doing same this year. My teen-age son loved it. Horseback riding is offered at several sites in the park. If you go to Jackson Hole take a raft trip down the Snake River. All the animals, waterfalls, etc. kept us busy. My son got a new digital camera and he enjoyed seeing who could take the best pictures.

Hi kelling,

Like CeCe, we toured on our own and had a great time.

Here is a list of activities led by concessioners in the Yellowstons Parks Service site. I have not used any of these, so can not coment on them: www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/concessn.htm

Yellowstone is a truly special place to visit. Enjoy your trip!

quite a while ago I stayed in Cooke City and hired an outfitter to take my group on a horse trip through the mountains on the west side of Yellowstone. It was very scenic, and not something I could have done myself. (since yellowstone is a caldera, the mountains are mostly on the edges of the park) We used beartooth plateau outfitters http://beartoothoutfitters.com, but there are several other outfitters in the area to compare prices and services with. here is another link that has some outfitters http://www.allredlodge.com/

this is a good listing of lodging in Cooke City

Kelling, the park isn%26#39;t as intimidating as you might think. Teenagers aren%26#39;t going to be very happy on a bus tour of the park. It%26#39;s easy to drive and there are lots of convenient hikes/paths for you to take that are not through the back country and extremely scenic.

Why don%26#39;t you give us some idea of why you are thinking the way you are, where you are from, when during summer you are planning to be in the park, how you are getting there and where you are planning on staying? Then we can give you some suggestions.
