yellowstone vs teton in august

Spending 4 days in Jackson in August. The group includes 2 teenagers, 40 something year old parents and 70+ grandparents (very active). Already planning a whitewater trip, balloon ride and golf for those who play. Will probably have only one day to see either park. Which park would you suggest and how would we make the most of a one day visit?

Tetons. Very pretty and you don%26#39;t really have time to do Yellowstone. You%26#39;re a pretty long drive from the upper parts of Yellowstone.

You will be seeing the Tetons from Jackson every day and I think you should see YS. I would get up early, drive up to Yellowstone and do the lower loop of the park. Visit www.nps.gov/yell. See Old Faithful and some of the geyser basins and Canyon area with the upper and lower falls. It will be a long day, but your teens should really see Yellowstone!!!

Make a drive one day from Jackson to Old Faithful and back through the Tetons. It can be done in one day. You will get to see wildlife and beautiful scenery. We did it last year and had a great day! We ate lunch at the Old Faithful Inn. My teenaged son loved it too.

It probably won%26#39;t be an option but stay at least one night in the Yellowstone area. Both NP%26#39;s are very different and GTNP is awesome but Yell is beyond words.

Go out of Jackson and over the pass and up thru Idaho on the state road (scenic by-way up to Lower and Upper Mesa Falls and into Yellowstone thru the West entrance. Beautiful drive and you will see alot - we did this in one day while we were staying near Grand Targhee resort. Got up early and took a picnic to have in the park. Saw lots of animals. Have fun!
