Hello,
Me and my husband have booked 2 nights in august in Yellowstone
19-20 August ( Old Faithful) and after that we have a 2 nights gap before going to teton National Park where we have booked 2 nights stay at Colter Bay village (23-24 August)
We would love to stay at a ranch somewhere riding and so 1-2 nights 21 - 22 August. Near Cody seem nice. How is Bill Cody ranch?Any suggestions not to long driving time.
Do you know how long time it takes to drive from old Faithful to Cody? And From Cody to Teton National Park? Ay ranch suggestions?
We booked our stays long ago else we could have planed it better with the ranch time.
Best Nalle.
Cody wyoming ranch suggestion?
Almost all ';dude'; ranches require a weeks stay. However you can arrange day rides in the park through park services or sometimes through your hotel. My guess, depending on traffic , would be around 6 hrs from Old Faithful to Cody.
Cody wyoming ranch suggestion?
I would have two recommendations - one on each side of Yellowstone. The Elephant Head lodge just ouside the east entrance to Yellowstone is excellent. It is small, family owned and you get very personal service. Excellent horse riding and very good fly fishing. Cody is a good, western town. It has an outstandsing western museum.
The other recommendation is the 320 Ranch in Montana to the northwest of Yellowstone. Fantastic location in the mountains with a wide variety of accomodations. They have a very large stable and horse riding operation. Very good fishing on the premise and an oustanding restaurant.
Either ranch is the same travel time from Old Faithful and about the same time down to the Tetons.
We took a two week vacation to Yellowstone, Cody, and Grand Tetons in August 2006 and loved it. In Yellowstone we stayed in The Lake Lodge Cabins (about an hour East of Old Faithful). After several days in Yellowstone we travelled to Cody and stayed at the K-3 Ranch. Jerry and Bette are the owners and they are just wonderful!!! We can%26#39;t wait to book our trip back there!
After Cody we headed to Grand Tetons, and stayed at Signal Mountain Lodge cabins. We had our three month old son with us and found that there was not as much we could do all together. So we left early and went back to K-3 in Cody!!! the Buffalo Bill Cody Museum was unreal. There were some great restaurants there, a rodeo, cute stores. The drive along the Chief Joseph Highway is not to be missed!
Again, try the K-3 Guest Ranch (they have a website) it was the best part of our entire vacation!!!!

Bill Cody Ranch is a wonderful place to stay and is located exactly in-between Cody and Yellowstone. Several other nice ranches in the area are Goff Creek Lodge and Elephant Head Lodge.
Cody and Old Faithful are about 120 miles apart. The speed limit in the park is 35 - 40 in most places. It is about 180 miles from Cody to Jackson (Jackson in on the other side of Grand Teton National Park).
There is a website at www.yellowstonecountry.org that lists all the things to do in and around Cody - and there are alot - and all the lodging.
Hope that helps!
We stayed for three nites at Elephant Head Lodge and loved it - good food, nice people, great horses. Very friendly. Look at the Wapita Lodging Assn. (or something like that - maybe Wapiti Guest lodges) website for other ideas. Would make more sense to do that first, then Yellowstone then Grand Teton 0 - can you re-arrange?
