What kind of driving is there on highway 89, especially at night?
We will be staying at Signal Mountain Lodge. I would like to go to a Chuckwagon at the Bar J, but have been told it won%26#39;t be over until dark. I am wondering about driving an hour or so from Wilson to Signal Mountain. I know that wildlife on the road is an issue, but I am wondering if 89 is a wide road and if it is level. On a map, it looks like I could take it to the north end of Inner Park Road and only have a few miles on that road to Signal Mountain.
If traveling there after dark is a big issue, we could go to the bar t 5 chuckwagon. It ends around 8:00.
Any advice would be appreciated.

US 89 is a good highway which you%26#39;ll have no difficulty negotiating after dark. Not a lot of ups and downs and twists and turns in the section you mention, as memory serves me.

Nearly all roads out there are wide and level. Don%26#39;t underestimate the wildlife thought. When we drove from Jackson Lake Lodge the airport we saw more elk that we saw all together in Yellowstone. It was pretty much dawn and the entire herd was gradually crossing the road. Just pay attention.
Just drove it in a snowstorm. Only one hill that I can remember but lots of curves. It has a little both of forest close by and open meadows. I wouldn%26#39;t bat an eye at driving it at night, just go slow around curves and use your bright lights as long as no one is coming the opposite way.
