Jackson and Yellowstone in September - help planning

Hi:

We%26#39;re two adults considering going to YNP and Jackson in early-mid September.

When do most activities in the parks close? Would we still be able to do white water or scenic rafting on Snake River then?

Should we stay in Jackson and do a day trip to YNP or split our time of about 7-9 days between them?

And, if we split our stay, e.g. 3 nights in YNP and 4-5 in Jackson, which should we do first/last?

We%26#39;d be coming from the East Coast and flying into Denver.

I would spend two days in Cody, three days in YNP, and two days in Jackson Hole. It will take the other two days to go and come from Cody or Jackson Hole.
