We will be heading to Yellowstone in June. We want to spend two nights in/around Jackson. We will have a pop up camper.
Please give me the campgrounds around Jackson, please.
Thank you
Campgrounds around Jackson
Teton National Park has 4 campgrounds that will allow trailers. Gros Ventre is the closest to Jackson. The others are Colter Bay, Signal Mountain and Lizard Creek. Visit www.nps.gov/grte for more info.
Plus there are a few RV parks in Jackson and many National Forest campgrounds in the area.
Campgrounds around Jackson
Can you make reservations at these parks? Or are they like the ones in Yellowstone, first come first serve?
Thanks for the input.
Hi,
As far as camping around the Jackson/ Grand Teton area with a popup trailer I have to recommend the Gros Ventre CG. It is nicely located between both Jackson and the main park entrace and far enough from the highway that noise isn%26#39;t a problem. The Park Service offers nightly ranger programs and the restroom facilities offer running cold water and flush toilets. There is also a clean and free RV dump if you need those services.
This a first come/first served campground, but it is usually the last in the park to fill up on the busiest days so I think you are pretty safe without reservations. I have never had a problem on any of my last minute trip there over the last 10 years getting a nice site as it almost never fills.
In comparison to either Signal Mountain or Colter Bay, this is a very open camp situated in the cottonwood trees that line the Gros Ventre river (small stream) and you are almost assured there will be initmate wildlife viewing (bison %26amp; moose) as you drive in and out of this camp. Also not nearly as commercailized as the other 2 campgrounds.
So if you are looking for a nice, quiet, and scenic campground, I think you will be very happy with Gros Ventre and I would have to say my personal favorite when I stay around Jackson.
Safe travels,
- Kery
