Grant Village campsite - help!

I%26#39;m heading to Yellowstone in a tent trailer at the end of June. Since the Canyon campground seems to get all the raves on tripadvisor, I tried to reserve a spot there but was told there are no campsites that can accommodate my trailer and van; the only campsite that can (and that has showers nearby) is Grant Village. I thus reserved a spot in Grant Village, but am wondering if anyone has stayed there in a tent trailer and can recommend specific camping sites that they liked. I was told I can request a specific site and the park will try to accommodate me. I%26#39;d love some feedback!

Also, I would keep calling Canyon. I made reservations for August just 2 weeks ago. Apparently the cancellation policy is pretty good, I have a feeling a lot of people make reservations and then cancel or change since there is no charge to do either. Keep trying, good luck!

Thanks for the input - asorgad, are you saying that there are, in fact, tent trailer sites in Canyon but they are presumably full and may open up later on? I got the feeling that there were no tent trailer sites in that campsite at all, after talking to the Xanterra guy.

Canyon campground can most certainly accomidate your tent trailer. In June 2006 we stayed in sight J-200. It easily accomidated a 30%26#39; RV and a minivan on a double width parking pad. There were many RVs larger than ours and many tent trailers in the campground that night.

It may be that some of their spaces are held for non-reservation, first-come-first-serve customers. We got ours by showing up at the campground 8:30am. You might try going up there early in the morning after your first night at Grant Village to see if they have a place for you. I don%26#39;t think there%26#39;s a penalty for early departure from your Grant Village spot.
