Final Itinerary for June 2008 trip-please advice!
Why are you going from Little Big Horn up to Gardner? I would go west and stay in Cody and go thru the East gate or stay in the Wapiti Valley on the way. Then if you wanted to do Yellowstone and the Beartooth Hwy you could go up North - may not be open that early but you could do part Fantastic drive!! sounds like you are making a double circle. You can do the Cody things before going to Yellowstone and then take time in the bottom half of Yellowstone and to the Jackson. 4 hours thru the East entrance thru the Tetons and to Jackson? Think again - what about stopping to soak in the scenery? Hike a bit or explore and look for animals? Besides, that early it may snow so be prepared. We were there twice in early June and it snowed both times. One day for Yellowstone touring AND teton touring? There is stuff to do in Jackson too - Teton Village, downtown, Museum of Wildlife Art.I even think your trip thru Cheyenne is pushing it in 7 1/2 hours. Relax a bit!

We will be stopping a lot that is the fun of it. I just listed suggested driving times. We are going to Gardiner first so we can see the part of YNP that we have not seen and be in Cody when the rodeo begins on June 1. Also with all the snow this year it may be very likely that the Beartooth Highway will not be open. We will do some hiking, etc. but have had surgery last fall for two tears in my achilles tendon and must be very careful. Thanks for all your suggestions.
