Red Lodge to Canyon?

This coming July we are planning a trip to YNP. Driving from Salt Lake City to stay at West Yellowstone. Exploring the park this first day up to Norris.

The second day we travel to Mammoth, then east, out the NE entrance, then via the Beartooth Hwy to Red lodge for the night. Of course stopping frequently to enjoy everything. The next night we have reservations at Canyon. My question is this: Do we have time to retrace the Beartooth, take the Chief Joseph Hwy, go to Cody and see what Cody has to offer, museum etc., then still get to Canyon for that night?

Red Lodge to Canyon?

It should take a couple of hours to get Cody, then at least 4-5 hours just to see some of the museums. The rodeo is at night so you will miss that. From Cody to Canyon, I think that it should take between 2 and 3 hours. I have only been in June and not encountered the heavier traffic that I understand comes in July and August.

what i would do is not retrace the beartooth to cody. go down 78/72/120 from red lodge to cody. it%26#39;s about 60 miles. then drive the chief joseph back to cooke city %26amp; down to the canyon from there. it%26#39;s about 75 back to cooke city %26amp; then 50 more to canyon village. even stopping for pics %26amp; sightseeing you%26#39;ll do it in less than 4 hours. that will give you a great loop from red lodge, plus you%26#39;ll get to enjoy cody too.
