Rapid City to Denver

We are finishing a 1 month trip around the National Parks by driving from Rapid City to Denver to catch our flight home (sadly). Any recemmendations for our 1 night stop on the way. This will be in August and we don%26#39;t want our last night to be a let down as the rest of our trip should be a Holiday to remember. Thanks for any ideas

We are starting in Mt. Rushmore, then to Battle of Little Bighorn, Cody, Yellowstone, Grand Tetons, and Jackson Hole. We will be leaving Jackson Hole and driving back to Denver. We are staying at the Hampton Inn in Cheyenne. It gets great reviews and has a nice breakfast.

Maggie,

It sounds as if you have a wonderful trip planned. Here are a couple of ideas for your last stay in our region:

An hour north of Cheyenne, the Diamond Guest Ranch in Chugwater. I had heard that they might be closing, so you would want to contact them directly.

Around Cheyenne, two memorable options: in Cheyenne proper, the Warren Nagle Mansion Bed and Breakfast. This is a Victorian cattle baron%26#39;s mansion. It is lovely and would make a memorable end to your Western adventure.

The other is west of Cheyenne a bit, the A. Drummond Guest Ranch. It is on the edge of the Medicine Bow forest. It gets wonderful reviews locally.

Thanks for your suggestion, I had a look at the Warren Nagle Mansion in Cheyenne and it looked amazing so have booked it. Many thanks for a great idea for the end of our trip

Maggie,

So glad I could help! You will be delighted with the mansion.

Cheyenne will be an easy one and a half hour drive to the Denver airport. Plan on an hour to turn in the rental and get to the airport and I believe plan on being at the airport 2 hours before your flight for international.

Driving from Rapid City to Cheyenne will be an easy drive and you may have time to check out either the Old West Museum or the Historic Train Depot museum in Cheyenne.
