Hello. I am traveling in a group of 6 adults and we are trying to figure out the logistics of our trip to Yellowstone. We will have 12 days (including travel days) in late May.
It looks like it is $100 cheaper a person for flights if we fly to Salt Lake City instead of Jackson Hole. Is this worth it? Are there other interesting things we can do around there? We have not planned an exact itenerary yet for the whole trip, so there is some room to adjust. We plan on doing the normal tourist stuff in Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, and we would also like to do some day hikes. How much time would you recommend we give to each park?
One other thing we were considering is driving up to Glacier National Park for a few days. Does this seem like it would be doable or worth our time?
Thank you so much for your help!
Which airport to use (12 day trip)
i don%26#39;t know what you are budgeting for airfare but i%26#39;m doing an 8 day trip this summer, visiting glacier np, yellowstone np, grand teton np, %26amp; jackson. we are flying into kalispell, mt %26amp; out of jackson, wy at a cost of approx. $600/pp. i highly recommend doing both parks but would probably not try to to them if flying into slc. if you decide to do this check out alamo for one way rentals. they are usually a little cheaper on one way rentals.
the drive up from slc is very scenic %26amp; you have two options (up thru wy or id). it takes between 4-5 hours.
one option you might check into is flying into idaho falls instead of jackson. sometime fares are cheaper into there than jackson %26amp; it%26#39;s not a bad drive over from there.
i%26#39;ll send you a private message to keep from cluttering up the board with some ideas for an itinerary.

It depends on where you are coming from east coast or west coast but I agree rates are usually cheaper out of SLC. We flew out of SLC last year. This year because we are doing Mt. Rushmore, Battle of Little Bighorn, Cody, YNP, GT, and Jackson Hole we are flying in and out of Denver. I got roundtrip tickets for $250 per person and a rental car (SUV) for 10 days for $470. Good luck!
try the bozeman mt airport, it%26#39;s much closer to the park
Red Windmill -- If I were you, I would fly into SLC for the savings and then drive to Jackson/Yellowstone up through Wyoming. It is an absolutely beautiful drive -- about 5 hours. Given your short time frame, I wouldn%26#39;t spend anytime around SLC, I%26#39;d just rent the car and hit the road to where you DO want to spend your time.
With 12 days you certainly could take in Glacier and it is beautiful, it just really depends on how your group wants to spend their time. Plan on a day and probably a night in Cody -- musuems and nite rodeo. I would also think that 2 nights in Jackson Hole might be right.
