I%26#39;m coming to Jackson Hole with my skier DH the third week in March. We are staying at the Wyoming Inn which was highly recommended by friends of ours. They also suggested a dog sled trip which they booked while here. My DH is a big skier and I am a beginner who may not last the week. Can anyone suggest some activities other than skiing in the winter?
We%26#39;d planned on coming in June and doing the river rafting but a wedding has put a halt to those plans.
I figure I%26#39;m better off enjoying the scenery any time of year than not getting to come at all.
Any ideas in addition to the dog sledding?
Winter activity suggestions?two of my favorite things to do...
1) drive north from jackson about 30 minutes to where the road splits toward dubois. just a few miles down that highway is a snowmobile rental place where they will rent you a snowmobile %26amp; give you a map of the togwotee national forest. you can do 1/2 or whole days. go through the forest which is very well marked %26amp; have lunch at the togwotee lodge. there are lots of good areas to ';free ride'; %26amp; the scenery is outstanding.
2) if you are going to be alone, take one of the guided tours with a small group to granite hot springs. it%26#39;s not too long of a trip %26amp; when you get to the hot springs you can go for a swim while your guide cooks your lunch. don%26#39;t forget your bathing suit.
Winter activity suggestions? Thanks so much. I%26#39;ll pack that bathing suit! Do the guided tours leave from your hotel or the town area?
there are 3-4 different companies that do the excursion to granite hot springs. just call them about picking you up at your hotel. depending on which one you use you can probably even walk to their office. here%26#39;s a good link.
